About This Project

Client: Slinfold Golf Club, Slinfold, West Sussex

Golf Improvement Scheme

Matthews Sussex Ltd were appointed principle contractor to undertake the re modelling of the clubs 9 hole course and driving range with clean inert soils.

The 9 hole course was completely re designed to create an exciting and challenging course that is quite unique.

The driving range suffered from exceptionally poor drainage and a severe slope running away from the  range building. Imported soils where used to create a gentle gradient increasing in height and sloped into the centre of the range where new herring bone and centre drainage channels take the rain fall away to the newly formed ponds.

This project involved close cooperation with the clubs ecologist and the implementation of stringent precautions to insure there was no detrimental effect to the Great Crested newt population in this part of the club’s property which has one of the largest populations of Great Crested Newts to be found in the UK . All the construction works where completed without incident and with great care and attention to the sensitive and valuable ecology of the site.
